DONATIONS
Your gift will help The ALS Association support research to find a cure for ALS and provide much-needed services to patients and their families. By becoming a part of the ALSA family and making your gift today, you will help sustain hope in thousands of people affected by ALS. Gifts to our Chapter Association are tax-deductible to the full extent of the Internal Revenue Code. The ALS Association (ALSA) is designated by the IRS as a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, and can be found in IRS Publication 78 as, "Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association," and at http://www.irs.gov/. To find The ALS Association, go to the IRS Web site and enter "amyotrophic" in the "Name" search box.
Know Your Rights as a Donor.
Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available for each fund-raising event, including title, presenting, supporting, and media partnerships.
There are many ways to give to The ALS Association of Oregon & SW Washington. Financial donations accepted by cash, check, or credit card, in person or by mail.
- Double or triple your contributions via Corporate Matching Gift Programs. Many companies match charitable contributions made by employees.
- In-kind gifts including but not limited to: printing services, advertising , catering, and database expertise.
- Program supplies including:
- Durable medical equipment Light weight manual wheelchairs, four wheeled walkers with seats, and bathroom equipment (in good repair).
- Communication Equipment Late model lap tops, dedicated speech devices, and environmental controls
- Percent of your business’ sales revenue.
- Silent and live auction items as well as raffle items for our events.
Planned Giving opportunities include gifts of stock, property or real estate, life income and estate gifts that can provide tax advantages.
EQUIPMENT DONATIONS The ALS Association of Oregon and SW Washington accepts donations of durable medical equipment and assistive technology to support people with ALS. Examples include donations of wheelchairs, bathroom equipment, as well as dedicated and computer based communication devices. People donating equipment will receive a letter of acknowledgement that can be used for tax donation purposes. For detailed information regarding equipment donations, please see our guidelines.
Donated medical equipment will be used to help people with inadequate insurance coverage, or who need medical equipment or assistive technology sooner than vendors or insurance can get supports in place.
Equipment donations must be in good repair. We retain the right to refuse any donation. To discuss a donation of durable medical equipment or assistive technology, contact the Services Department at the chapter office.
VOLUNTEER
We have three major annual events: our Gala in the spring, a Golf Tournament in the summer and a series of Walk To D'Feet ALS events across the State in the fall.
Volunteer opportunities range from one-time to year-long. They include:
- Join an event committee
- Be a day-of event volunteer
- Lend a hand with administrative tasks
- Raise funds to support ALS programs
- Create a community giving circle

Job Description: AA Sports is looking for responsible, motivated volunteers for their Portland area events during the 2007 race season. Volunteers can earn community service hours or fundraise for any non-profit group, team, or organization.
