Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal! This year we are participating in the ALS Association Walk to Defeat ALS in memory of Delores Beckers.
Delores battled ALS for 5 years before passing away on September 14th, 2018. Throughout her struggle, Delores remained positive and hopeful. As a teacher, lovingly known as "Mrs. Bee," she regularly put others before herself. She understood that our words, actions, and how we show care have a profound impact in the lives of those around us. Relying on a deep connection with her faith, she lived each day trying to improve the lives of others. When she was diagnosed with ALS, she greatly appreciated the doctors, ALS support groups, and caregivers that were possible because of the support of the ALS Association of Oregon. The advancement in her treatment plan over the years and the support given to her family were only possible through the donations raised through events like this one. This year we are dedicating our walk in the memory of Delores Beckers with the hopes of continuing her legacy of compassion and care, in order to support those who are struggling with ALS.
Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophiclateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
