As most of you know I have been fundraising for the Walk to Defeat ALS for the last two years. The walk has played an important and vital role in my life, bringing strength and hope to this terrible disease. It unites families and those affected, all the while collecting much needed funding for research and for the possibility of a cure on the horizon someday soon.
As most of you also know my mother Patricia Snyder passed away from complications stemming from this disease on July 26, 2013. She was diagnosed in September of 2011 and a little less than two years shy of that date the disease became too much and won. This is common and the life expectancy for most diagnosed with ALS is two to five years. No one should have to go through what Mom went through. And a cure can only be found with our help.
I would like to once again raise money this year and join together to form a team to walk on September 29 in memory of my amazing Mom.
From the minute Mom was diagnosed she stayed true to her fighting nature and never once backed down. I don't know anyone as strong as her and I never will. She handled this disease with dignity and strength never once complaining or asking "Why me?" She lived every day to the fullest, loved life even when most would say it didn't love her back, and I know she left this earth with no regrets and a memory full of the wonderful times she created. She is and always will be my inspiration, guiding light and now my angel.
Please join me in remembering Mom by joining my team and walking along side of me as we have for the last two years - this year might be a bit of a different march but the walk will go on. I know she would want us to do this and celebrate her life well lived.
If you are not able to join, please donate whatever is feasible for you and know that with any amount - you are helping to possibly save the lives of ALS patients who end up leaving us far too soon.
RIP Mom. I love you. I miss you. I feel you around me everyday and know you're smiling and flying free.
