Registration and Participant Center FAQs
How do I register?
Did you participate last year? Have you ever registered for any of our other chapter events? Do you receive our monthly e-newsletter? If you answered YES to any of the questions above, then you have a username and password for our website! We recommend logging in before you register to make the process easy for you! The system will remember you and all of your past information, including edits to your personal pages.
Remember, online registration closes for everyone on March 2, 2018, so register today to secure your spot.
What does the registration fee cover?
Lift ticket (if needed), exclusive entry into our event space, participation in our contests, opportunity to take home a traveling trophy, eligibility for prizes, all your meals, non-alcoholic beverages, two drink tickets exchangeable for alcoholic beverages (21 and older), entertainment, an awards celebration and much more.
My child who is 6 and under wants to join me. What is their registration fee?
For kids 6 and under who want to register with the LIFT TICKET registration option, please use discount code: KIDSUNDER6. This makes their registration fee only $20 which inlcudes their lift ticket, participation in the event festivities, food and beverage. For kids 6 and under that want to register with the SEASON PASS registration option, please use discount code: SEASONSIX. This makes their registration fee only $10 which includes participation in the event festivities, food and beverage.
What is the fundraising minimum, and what does it provide?
Registered participants ages 11 and older must fundraise $150 by the day of the event. Participants ages 10 and under are encouraged, but not required. The fundraising minimum makes reaching our goal a true team effort and guarantees a successful event. Let chapter staff help you with your fundraising efforts - there are so many tools available to make raising the minimum easy and fun! Contact us today! Proceeds from the Ski to Defeat ALS benefit local care services and critical research efforts. You can learn more on our Where the Money Goes page of this website.
I need to rent equipment. Where should I go? Who should I call?
Just give Mt. Hood Meadows a call to reserve what you need. The Ski to Defeat ALS, as an event, is unable to offer rentals, however Mt. Hood Meadows does offer just about everything you need for a great day on the mountain. You can use ALS2018 to receive a discount on your rentals.
I am a person living with ALS. In what ways can I participate?
Registration fees are waived for persons living with ALS but they are asked to still meet the $150 fundraising minimum. If you are a person living with ALS, you must register by contacting our chapter office, as we have limited spots available and certain requirements to meet through our partnership with Oregon Adaptive Sports. Contact us at email@example.com to share your interest and guarantee your spot.
I have an account, but I don’t remember my username or password. What do I do?
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will reset your information at our earliest convenience.
I already have a Mt. Hood Meadows season pass. Do I still need to pay a registration fee?
Yes. Your registration fee covers exclusive entry into our event space, participation in our contests, opportunity to take home a traveling trophy, eligibility for prizes, all your meals, non-alcoholic beverages, two drink tickets exchangeable for alcoholic beverages (21 and older), entertainment, an awards celebration and much more.. The $150 fundraising requirement for those who are 11 years of age or older is still applicable and makes this event a true team effort in supporting the ALS community.
What is a Personal Page?
Your Personal Page is an online promotional tool to use when asking your friends and family to join your team or make a donation. Once you're registered, a personal page is automatically created for you. You should customize this page with a photo and your personal story by logging into your Participant Center. Our staff is here to help you every step of the way.
Do I have to change my Personal Page?
You don't have to, but we know from experience that the participant’s personal touch makes the page more compelling to prospective supporters. Be creative and have fun with it! Add a personal narrative, photo of the person you are honoring, or photo of yourself skiing or snowboarding. Please know we are here to help you do this.
How do I change my personal fundraising goal?
Login to your Participant Center. At the top of that page, you'll see your current goal and a link to change it directly below it. Or you can contact us and we can do it for you.
How do I customize the web address for my Personal Page?
Login to your Participant Center. Click Personal Page from the options along the top of the page. In the Personal Page URL and Settings area, click Edit. Click into the field and type the text you want to use (such as your name or nickname). You may only use letters and numbers as well as the period (.), dash (-), and underscore (_) characters from your keyboard. To avoid problems, do not leave any spaces between your entries. Don't forget to click "Save'! Just give us a call if we can do this for you.
How can I see who has donated on my behalf?
Login to your Participant Center. Click the Progress tab at the top of the page, then scroll down to view your donor list. You can also download a list of your supporters from this page.
How can I enter a donation that someone has given me?
Please send in all checks to the chapter office as you receive them, so we can add them to your personal fundraising efforts as soon as possible and be able to report current totals on the day of the event.
How can I see who is on my team?
Login to your Participant Center, then click on View Team Roster from the navigation on the right side of the page.

I'm traveling to the Ski to Defeat ALS from outside the Mt. Hood area. Do you have any tips to make my trip easier?
Thanks to our friends at The Resort at the Mountain, you can take advantage of discounted room rates. Reservations at the group rate for ALS are available until February 17, 2018. To take advantage of this opportunity, call 503-622-2250 and ask for the Ski to Defeat ALS discounted rate. Rates are $99 plus a $20 resort fee. There's discounted rates for Fireside Studio's also at $159/night. Contact Catherine Craig at the resort directly with any questions, concerns and requests.
Can my family and friends who are not skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing join me at the event?
Anyone who is enjoying the amenities of the event must register. We have guest options for those who will not be skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing. Guests need to contact us directly over the phone to get registered. Anyone who will be skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing that day and wants to participate in our event will need to register and meet the fundraising minimum, if 11 years of age and older. Contact us directly if you have additional questions.

Are there additional charges to have a team?
No, but each member of the team, ages 11 and older, are responsible for paying their individual registration fee and raising at least $150 in collected donations from friends and family.
How many members must I have to form a team?
A team can be two people, twenty people, or more.
As a team captain or member of a team, can I raise all the money and then distribute it to other members of my team?
We strongly discourage this. We believe the Ski to Defeat ALS is a transformative event. For many people, participating is a challenge. Whether it’s the physical challenge or the effort it takes to reach a fundraising goal, both components are part of the Ski to Defeat ALS experience. Having every participant raise funds makes this event special. Everyone participating will have something in common - they challenged ALS and provided hope to those affected by it.
