Event Information



The Ride to Defeat ALS is a one-day cycling event designed to appeal to every level of rider. It offers something for everyone.

Seasoned cyclists, non-seasoned cyclists and everyone in between come together to raise significant funds to support the mission of The ALS Association. For a nominal registration fee, each participant will be given an exclusive entry to this fully-supported ride, meals, non-alcoholic beverages, beer and wine, entertainment and so much more. Each participant, ages 11 and up, must raise $150 by the day of the event. We offer a 75 Mile Ride, Metric Century Ride (62 Miles), 50 Mile Ride, 25 Mile Ride, and our Family Fun Ride (3 miles). 

Every participant can count on support from start to finish with crewed rest stops, SAG vehicles, and the safety team. Upon completing the tour, riders are welcomed back by cheering crowds and finish line festivities that include entertainment, complimentary massages, a healthy lunch, and exciting demos.

About the Ride

- Check-in opens at 6:00 AM
- A continental breakfast will be served from 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
- 75 Mile Ride rolling start from 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM.
- Metric Century Ride rolling start from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
- 50 Mile Ride rolling start from 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM.
- 25 Mile Ride group start at 9:30 AM sharp.
- The Family Fun Ride group start at 11:00 AM sharp.  This is a led ride and is a relaxed 3-mile route.
- The Finish Line Celebration featuring a delicious lunch, wine and beer will be served from 12:00 - 4:30 PM.

Rest Stops are 12-25 miles apart. Each stop has porta-potties, water, snacks, and other goodies. A map/cue sheet will be available at the Check-In. Please take a map with you on the route.

Fees and Fundraising

The registration fee includes everything you need to make your Ride to Defeat ALS fun and safe. It includes breakfast and mechanical support at the start, snacks, hydration, medical support, bike mechanics, and restrooms at the rest stops, SAG wagons and ride marshals on the route, and lunch and entertainment at the finish line.

Participants on all 25, 50, 62, and 75 mile rides:

Participants for Family Fun Ride: 
$10 Earlybird Registration (before May 1st)

People living with ALS: FREE

In addition to the registration fee, we ask that all riders 11 years and older raise a minimum of $150 to participate.  But don’t worry, we will help you every step of the way with tips and tools to make your fundraising goals successful. This minimum must be reached by the day of the event. It’s never been easier.  We promise!

On the Route

When you check-in, you will get cue sheets for the ride. The route will be marked, but you are responsible for navigating the route. Pay attention to the roads, directions, and cue sheets. Volunteer SAG wagons will be patrolling the route. If you need assistance, give the standard "thumbs down" signal to indicate you need support.

Please note: SAG wagons are intended to provide support for mechanical problems, or injury. They are not shuttles to get up a hill or on to the next stop. Please be prepared to complete the route you begin.

If you need to contact us directly while you're on the route, we will post a phone number for you to call in the Festhalle. Be sure to have this on hand.

If there is an emergency, call 911. If you're not sure if you should call 911... CALL 911. For other issues or concerns, please call the number on the cue sheet. 

Route Markings
The route will be marked with yellow route arrow signs on the side of the roads. These signs will be at all the intersections, turns or tricky navigation sites. Wherever possible, we will augment these signs with additional signage and if possible, a volunteer to point the way. However, the route arrows are not meant to replace your personal responsibility for paying attention and following the cue sheets for the route.

The points where the 25, 50, Metric Century, and 75 Mile routes intersect or diverge will be well marked, but please pay attention and follow our cue sheets.

Mechanical Support
There will be Bike Mechanics at the starting line, the lunch stop, and at some rest stops. Our volunteer mechanics can make simple adjustments, quick safety checks and fix flats. If your bike needs more serious work, the mechanic may be able to help you.

If you accept significant repair services, please be prepared to make arrangements for payment.

The Ride to Defeat ALS goes on, rain or shine! Oregon weather is unpredictable. Please check the local forecast before the ride. We will do our best to keep all participants in the know.

Rider Checklist
-Helmet. Helmets MUST been worn by all participents.  There will be no exceptions. 
-Emergency cash
-Sunglasses or other protective eyewear
-Tool kit
-Spare tubes and/or a patch kit, tire irons
-CO2 or mini-pump
-Sunscreen and lip balm
-Cycling Shoes, if you have them
-Your rider bib, if you've already collected your packet
